ExxonMobil is currently looking for an experienced engineer in Houston, TX, to provide project technical support for welding and inspection in upstream oil and gas production.


Typical Position Responsibilities:
* Support new construction projects with assistance in the specification, review, and qualification of welding procedures for demanding structural and pipeline environments such as low temperature, high strain capacity, and sour service
* Work with industry contractors to advise materials selection, qualification, testing, and failure analysis related to welding issues that arise during large scale onshore and offshore construction projects
* Define and qualify inspection procedures and equipment for ultrasonic, radiographic, and other inspection techniques
* Revise internal welding and materials specifications to reflect lessons learned and industry standard updates
* Represent company in international technical and standards organizationsRequired Skills & Experience:
* Bachelors degree in relevant Engineering or Chemistry discipline
* Candidate must have direct experience with welding and weld procedure qualification of carbon steels and corrosion resistant alloys, standard inspection techniques including radiography and ultrasonic testing, flaw acceptance criteria including alternate acceptance criteria
* Demonstrated familiarity with fracture mechanics and fatigue testing
* Must be conversant in industry standard practices and documentation for welding, testing, inspection, and specification of piping, structural steel, pipelines, and pressure vesselsPreferred Skills:
* Masters/PhD in welding engineering, metallurgical engineering, or related field
* Industry experience
* Project engineering experience on large construction projects, general knowledge of advanced welding techniques, automatic ultrasonic testing, offshore pipeline installation, expertise in codes and standards applied, including API, ASME, AWS, DNV, and ISO
* Candidates should be self-motivated and focused on achieving business results through a multi-disciplinary team
* Demonstrated teamwork and leadership skills are essentialExxonMobil offers an excellent formal classroom training program to enhance your skills regarding the fundamental principles and practices of Materials Engineering and related disciplines as required. Training in project management, risk assessment, and other project engineering topics are available. Some domestic and international travel to supplier and field production locations is required.
