Job Description The Polyethylene (PE) Process Improvement engineer position is located at the Beaumont Polyethylene Plant and provides technology support to PE Manufacturing for longer term improvements. The responsibilities will include being a mentor for less experienced technical resources and a leader in tackling the most complex unit problems. The candidate will be a key contributor for process improvements, capital projects, and risk assessments. This position is located in Beaumont, Texas.
Primary Job Functions: Lead troubleshooting and short term resolution of most complex unit problems. Help identify longer term improvement opportunities. Pro-actively identify and help resolve emerging issues before they escalate.
* Mentor and advise less experienced technical resources
* Develop and maintain key process performance indicators
* Represent manufacturing in reviews of drawings and engineering changes
* Participate in risk assessments
* Interface with process technology and product technology on process and product improvements
* Manage projects as assigned which may include: developing the project design basis, completing a project roadmap, planning resources, and identifying key deliverables
* Develop and execute experimental operating guidelines for plant trials
* Review changes to safety critical devices and procedures
* Identify and implement cost reduction plans on an ongoing basis
Job Requirements:
* Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering
* Demonstrated work experience in manufacturing environment, including plant optimization, process control, and process problem troubleshooting
* Experience in polyolefin manufacturing
* Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as solid presentation skills are required
* Ability to travel 20% if required
* Ability to work in a manufacturing setting with strict adherence to safety rules and systems
* Strong analytical and process trouble-shooting skills
Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
* Supervisory or leadership experience
* Experience in PE Gas Phase process
