Job Description ExxonMobil is currently looking for an experienced engineer in Houston, TX with experience in the arctic, or other cold regions, to provide technical support and expertise within the Marine & Arctic Engineering Civil, Structural & Arctic function of the ExxonMobil Development Company. Position Responsibilities:
* Provide engineering expertise to a variety of ExxonMobil development projects in cold regions where permafrost, sea ice and/or icebergs are significant design considerations
* Assist development projects in meeting safety, environmental and capital cost objectives
* Participate in the development of company and industry standards
* Provide technical support throughout the development phase of projects from conceptual to final design/execution
* Develop scope of work for desk studies, develop technical specifications, assist in contractor selection, and assure quality control of contractors work throughout project execution
* Provide effective interface with business units, regulatory agencies, and industry organizations
* Participate in risk management activities to ensure compliance with ExxonMobils Operation Integrity Management System expectations
This position requires a high level of interaction with other ExxonMobil disciplines, Project Team members and contractors. Technical support is required in the following areas:
* Structures designed to operate in ice environments including fixed structures (e.g., GBS, jackets, islands, etc.)
* Floating production systems designed to operate in ice environments
* Ice monitoring and ice management offshore operations
* Ice mechanics and ice loadings on cold region structures
* Arctic civil and infrastructure engineering including design in permafrost areas
Required Skills & Experience:
* BS in Civil/Structural Engineering required
* Oil and gas industry experience including experience with projects in cold regions
* Management of engineering design and ability to evaluate different conceptual designs
Preferred Skills:
* Post-graduate degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or similar degree
* At least 10 years of industry experience including at least 3 years of experience with projects in cold regions
* Previous experience with both fixed and floating structures exposed to sea ice or icebergs, including knowledge of ice sciences and ice/structure interaction
* Experience with cold regions operations and logistics, together with knowledge of contractor capabilities
* Russian as a second language is a plus
* Flexible to international travel including overseas project assignments
* Demonstrated teamwork and leadership skills and excellent communication skills
